Sunny Delight® Beverages Co. Announces Start-Up Decisions

Cincinnati, August 22, 2004—Sunny Delight Beverages Co. made several announcements today concerning its start-up:

  • J.W. Childs Associates has completed its purchase of the SunnyD and Punica brands from Procter & Gamble and established the new Sunny Delight Beverages Co. The deal closed on August 1, 2004. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Sunny Delight Beverages Co. has chosen to locate its headquarters at 4747 Lake Forest Drive in Blue Ash, Ohio. The State of Ohio has provided tax incentives for new job creation and R&D investment.
  • Sunny Delight Beverages Co. has chosen Acosta, a full service broker, to represent it to most United States customers. Acosta will provide headquarters and retail selling capability in most grocery and convenience customers. Sunny Delight Beverages Co. retains some direct selling capability.
  • Sunny Delight Beverages Co. will retain several key marketing partners. Saatchi & Saatchi will continue to handle SunnyD advertising in all of its markets. Carol H. Williams, an advertising agency in Oakland, CA, will continue to lead Sunny Delight Beverages Co.'s efforts with African American consumers. Grey Advertising will continue to handle Punica in Germany. Landor, a brand identity firm, will have primary responsibility for the brand's packaging graphics. MediaVest will handle media purchasing in North America.
